A competition for the fully funded Ashby PhD Scholarship in the area of Mechanics of Materials is now open at the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. The Scholarship, endowed in honour of Prof M F Ashby, is open to applicants of any nationality and covers all applicable University fees and a maintenance allowance of £15,234 per year. The precise topic of the PhD and the supervisor can be confirmed after the scholarship is awarded. The area of Mechanics of Materials is interpreted widely, ranging from atomistic level materials modelling, through micromechanics to large scale solid/fluid interaction problems, and includes both experimental, theoretical and computational investigations.
