Assistant Professor/Lecturer (fixed-term)

(official German job title: Akademische Rätin/Akademischer Rat auf Zeit)
to start at the earliest convenience, but no later than 1 November 2020.

This is a full-time position, based on a fixed-term contract valid for a period of three years, with the option of renewal for an additional three years. If the legal requirements for employment as a ‘Beamter’ (civil servant) are met in principle, the successful candidate will be appointed as a temporary civil servant in the university service at pay grade A13 (‘Akademische Rätin/Akademischer Rat auf Zeit’); the salary step is dependent on qualifications, family status and experience.

What we seek

• Completed doctorate in economics, information systems or related areas with reference to the digital economy (e.g. digital economics or digital business).
• Very good analytical skills and the ability to solve complex practical problems using analyti- cal methods (e.g. experimental economic research, game theory, industrial economics, econometrics).
• Ability to work in a team and open-mindedness, as well as the ability and motivation for conscientious and independent scientific work.
• Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
• Knowledge of German would be advantageous but is not a requirement.

Position specification

• Conducting independent academic research on current topics in the field of digital markets or digital business models, especially on the economic regulation of the digital economy.
• Teaching and supervision in the scope of five academic hours per week during the semester.
• Developing and conducting interdisciplinary research projects and acquisition of third-party funds.

• Participation in international summer schools and methodological workshops as well as the structured doctoral programme of the School of Business, Economics and Infor- mation Systems.
• Regular participation in international conferences and integration into an international research network as well as participation in the national and international political dis- course on the regulation of the digital economy.
• Active involvement in and development of the Chair’s teaching curriculum, especially for the study programmes Business Administration and Economics, Information Systems, International Economics and Business, and Digital Transformation in Business and So- ciety.
• Excellent infrastructure, including the Chair’s own experimental laboratory, on one of the most beautiful university campuses in Germany.
