The Department of Political Science and Public Management invites applications for a 3-year assistant professorship in Odense as of January 1, 2014 or soon thereafter.

The Department of Political Science and Public Management offers a full study programme within political science, a major in social science, and a range of other related study programmes such as the interdisciplinary MA programme in International Security and Law. The successful applicant will become an integrated part of the department’s academic environment, which features a vibrant international relations section as well as the interdisciplinary Center for War Studies (CWS). This environment has no theory or method of choice but places a premium on original and independent thought. To qualify for the position the applicants must hold a PhD degree in political science or a relevant PhD degree in one of the social sciences. Moreover, applicants must document research qualifications and interest in international relations. This includes a publication record as well as a research agenda for the coming years.

The main assignments of an assistant professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Management are research and research-based teaching, and to a minor extent administrative tasks will be connected to the position. Applicants are expected to possess experience with teaching, and as an assistant professor improve their teaching qualifications.

As an assistant professor, you will have to develop an international research profile. The preferred applicants will have the potential to build national and international research networks and publish genuine academic and peer-reviewed contributions to the research field of concern.

The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic research and teaching environment. The department expects the successful candidate to contribute positively to the academic and social environment at the department. Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
