The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf invites applications for an
Assistant Professorship (W1, tenure track W2) of Cultural Media Studies with a focus on Game Studies and related fields
to take up appointment on 01.10.2019. The position is funded by the WISNA Bund-Länder-Programm.

We are seeking an exceptional individual who has the potential to represent the field in all its depth in research and teaching.

The teaching responsibilities consist of contributions to the curriculum of the bachelor’s and master’s degree of the Department of Media and Cultural Studies.

Candidates (m/f) must have an internationally recognised research profile as well as a proven track record in high-level publications and in the acquisition of third-party funding. A strong commitment to academic teaching as well as working in academic self-administra- tion is expected.

Employment is initially for three years. Given a successful evaluation in the third year, employment will be renewed for another three years. Conditional on a positive (tenure) evaluation in the sixth year, the position is transformed into a permanent position at associate professorship level (German pay scale W2).

Applicants (m/f) will be hired in accordance with the general prerequisites pertaining to service law of section 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Hochschulgesetz NRW) which require an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
