The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of Robotics.

The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute performs intensive research within the field of robotics with the aim of developing robots that can optimize industrial as well as medical and other scientific goals and make significant contributions to basic research in areas such as: Biologically-inspired robotics, modular robots, cognitive vision in the context of grasping, object recognition and scene interpretation, applied mathematics for mathematical modeling of mechanical systems and processes as well as for motion planning, software technology, especially modeling architecture, evolution of software and knowledge management.

The scientists working within these areas collaborate across dis-ciplines as well as across sectors. The result is an effervescing research and development environment inspired by issues emerging from the surrounding world.
Teaching covers a broader range of technology and science courses related to the research areas.

The associate professor will be affiliated to the Institute’s Robotics group.
The applicant must have proven research experience in flexible industrial robot systems. Interest and experience in co-operations with companies and good communication and organization skills enabling him/her to act as a bridge between academia and industry.

The preferred applicant has documented theoretical and practical research experience in one or more of the following areas:

• automatic path planning for manipulators
• programming of industrial robots
• design and development of software architectures for robotic systems
• accurate modeling and simulation of robotic systems

The applicant must be able to document teaching and student supervision experience and be able to contribute to the Institute's teaching and continued development of the bachelor and master program in Robot Technology.
