Our School is a vibrant community committed to delivering excellent teaching in Biomedicine that results in the highest levels of student satisfaction.

We have an opportunity for a talented lecturer to organise and teach on a new degree programme, Healthcare Science Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship (Biomedical Science). The role will include liaising with NHS hospital Trusts, being a contact point for the apprentices, delivering face-to-face and remote teaching to the apprentices (they will have access to a lot of online materials), and the setting and marking of assessments.

As well as lecturing, leading seminars and overseeing practical assessments, you will prepare new teaching material, organise taught modules, encourage excellent admissions to the School through participation in recruitment events and outreach activities, and contribute significantly to student pastoral support.

Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent qualification or experience) in a related field. You will have expertise in delivering innovative research-led teaching, a dynamic teaching vision, have enthusiasm for working with students and should be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification. You may, but not necessarily have, experience as a senior biomedical/clinical scientist.

This full time post is available from 1 August 2021 on a fixed-term basis for 5 years until 31 July 2026.

As part of the application, applicants are asked to include a 5-minute video of themselves giving a lecture suitable for 1st year students with the title “Antibiotic resistance, one of the grand challenges in biomedicine”.

Details on how to submit your video can be found in the further particulars.

We strongly encourage applicants from women and all those from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds and welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

Closing date: 29 April 2021
