The Department of Biology in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf invites applications for a

Professorship for Cell Biology (grade W2 tenure W3 on the German university scale)

to be occupied as soon as possible.

We are seeking an individual who has attained international recognition in the field of cell biology with a focus on molecular biomedicine. Her/his research shall be linked to the Medical Faculty with its main research topics, i.e. „Cardiovascular Research“ and „Molecular and Clinical Hepatology“. Expertise in cell biology with a focus on molecular biomedicine should be demonstrated by respective publications in internationally renowned scientific journals. Success in acquisition of competitive third-party funding should be shown. The applicant should participate in teaching at the bachelor program biology (e.g. in zoology), contribute to master education in biology and molecular biomedicine, and participate in academic administration in the Department of Biology. Possible participation in joint research projects at both the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FOR2795, MOI III, RTG2158, CRC1208) and Medical Faculty (CRC974, CRC1116) are expected and should be outlined.

Applicants will be hired in accordance with the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Hochschulgesetz), which requires an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
