Professorship in Popular Culture Studies with a Special Focus on Popular Literature and Media

The University of Zurich invites applications for a professorship in popular culture studies with a special focus on popular literature and media. The position should be filled by 1 August 2023.

Candidates are expected to represent outstanding scholarship in contemporary and historical popular literature and media studies in both research and teaching. They are required to have an excellent record in different fields of narrative anthropology and media studies and their theoretical and methodological dimensions. We expect future job holders to seek for close cooperation within the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies (ISEK) as well as across disciplines.

A PhD degree at the time of application, a habilitation (or equivalent) as well as other excellent scientific achievements in the field of Popular Culture Studies / Folkloristics (European Ethnology, Cultural Anthropology, Cultural Studies) are required.
