The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf invites applications for a
Professorship of Media and Culture Studies
(grade W3 on the German university scale)
to take up appointment on 01.03.2018. The successful applicant will be able to cover the entire field of Media and Culture Studies with a theoretical orientation. The capacity to connect with empirical research and experience in cooperation with non-university partners are welcome. The duties required of this professorship include teaching in the BA and MA programs of the Department of Media and Culture studies, participation in the department’s research projects, and engagement in academic administration. Demonstrable didactic skills, a commitment to the development of the department’s teaching profile, the successful acquisition of competi- tive third-party funding, publications in internationally renowned journals etc., and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation are expected, as is participation in the joint research initiatives of the faculty.
Excellent achievements in university-level teaching, a high commit- ment to administrative processes in the faculty and the university and an active participation in the structured training of PhD students at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities are also expected. Internatio- nal research experience is of advantage.
Conditions for employment are, in addition to general administrative conditions in accordance with § 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein- Westfalen), an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
